Senior Attorney
Peter C. Salaverry is a dedicated attorney with a passion for fighting for his clients’ rights. His hands-on approach to each case and his unwavering commitment to his clients have earned him a reputation as the
go-to & “pre-lit” lawyer for complex commercial insurance claims.
His Crucible: Hurricane Laura
Three days after Hurricane Laura devastated the Gulf Coast in August 2020, Peter knew he had to do everything in his power to help his clients. To ensure that he could provide the best possible support, he made the difficult decision to leave his family and live as close to where the hurricane had made land fall
(Lake Charles, Louisiana), in a RV for eight months following the hurricane. He knew that being on at ground zero in the worst affected area would allow him to better understand the challenges his clients were facing and provide more personalized legal support.
During those eight months, Peter worked on average 16-hour days, tirelessly handling claims, and negotiating with insurance carriers on behalf of his clients. He refused to let anything stand in the way of his mission to secure fair compensation for those affected by the storm.
Despite the challenges he faced during those eight months, Peter never lost sight of his goal: to help his clients rebuild their lives after Hurricane Laura. His tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to fairness are a testament to the kind of attorney he is and the kind of person he strives to be every day.
Peter brought this same all-in fight to insurance carriers after both Hurricane Delta and Hurricane Ida.
His Claims Handling Style:
Peter developed and honed a hands-on style of claims handling during Hurricanes Laura, Delta, and Ida. His unique approach ensures that he has great fidelity with the facts of each case he handles. It also allows for a deeper level of empathy and understanding for his clients’ plight, driving Peter to fight harder on their behalf.
His Area Of Focus:
At Dugas & Circelli, Peter focuses on two areas: commercial properties and churches. Working with churches became a passion of Peter’s after his experiences in hurricane-ravaged areas; it was there that he coined the phrase “Spiritual First Responders” in reference to the largely unrecognized work all churches do after any storm.
